We've always been guided by a simple question:
If it can be fixed, why throw it out?
This isn't a slogan — it's our engineering ethos.
We make critical systems live longer because it's the right way to build and the right way to care for our planet.
The Team at Renewable Energy & Drives

In 1994, Renewable Energy & Drives began as Severn Drives & Energy—a small, specialized shop focused on motor drive systems. What started as a two-person operation quickly grew as we discovered our passion for solving complex power challenges that others couldn't tackle. By 2002, we had earned our first medium-voltage soft-starter patent, marking the beginning of our journey into custom power engineering. Our breakthrough came in 2011 when we launched our STATCOM line for utility grids, positioning us at the forefront of power quality solutions for critical infrastructure.
A Decade of Growth and Global Reach
The following decade brought exponential growth and recognition. By 2018, we had successfully installed our 300th Tier IV data center UPS system, establishing ourselves as the go-to partner for mission-critical power applications. Our commitment to innovation and reliability attracted clients across five continents, from Fortune 500 data centers to remote industrial facilities. In 2024, we rebranded to Renewable Energy & Drives to reflect our expanded focus on sustainable energy solutions, while celebrating a major milestone—over 600 power systems supported worldwide. Today, we continue to push the boundaries of power engineering, combining three decades of proven expertise with cutting-edge technology to deliver solutions that don't just meet specifications, but exceed expectations and create lasting partnerships.
Established in Leicestershire, UK, providing repair and maintenance services to critical UK and Ireland wind farms for clients like EDF, Scottish Power, and SSE.
This patented technology marked our shift from service provider to innovator, solving complex motor control challenges in the renewable energy sector.
Expanded from components to systems, delivering grid-stabilizing STATCOM solutions and comprehensive consultancy, including load flow analysis and protection coordination.
Entered into the North American market by opening a new 23,000 sq.ft manufacturing facility in New Berlin, Wisconsin, to better serve our global clients.
Acquired the S&C Purewave product line of Dstatcoms, UPS, UPS-XT, SMS, AVC in the North American market.
Our story has always been about solving what's critical. As we look ahead, we're expanding our capabilities in BESS, UPS, and STATCOM solutions to build a more resilient and intelligent energy infrastructure for our partners worldwide.
Our leadership team brings together decades of hands-on expertise from across the power generation, renewable energy, and industrial sectors. We're not just executives; we're engineers dedicated to solving your most critical power challenges.

Our values guide everything we do, from how we engineer solutions to how we build lasting partnerships.
We are engineers at our core. Every solution is grounded in rigorous analysis and first-principles thinking, ensuring it is robust, safe, and technically sound above all else.
In the environments we serve, reliability is not a feature—it's the foundation. We build and maintain systems with a zero-failure mindset because we understand the critical nature of your operations.
We integrate with your team as a true technical partner. Your challenges become our challenges, and we take complete ownership of the outcome, from initial design through long-term support.
We embrace technology not for its own sake, but to solve real-world problems more effectively. Our innovation is always grounded in practical application, aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and longevity.
Connect with our engineering team for a technical consultation. We'll help you identify risks and uncover efficiency opportunities.
