The equipment is the easy half.

A power system is only as good as the commissioning that proved it and the maintenance that keeps it proven. Our field teams cover the whole lifecycle: factory and site acceptance testing before energization, preventive maintenance on a defined schedule afterwards, and diagnostic support when something behaves in a way the manual does not describe.

We also do the work most suppliers decline. When a manufacturer discontinues a product line, the installed base does not disappear. It just becomes unsupported. RE&D acquired the PureWave power quality business precisely so that fleet would keep running, and our workshops rebuild power modules, replace obsolete components and return legacy systems to service rather than quoting a replacement.

That extends to third-party equipment. Refurbishment of an existing DSTATCOM or STATCOM installation is frequently a fraction of the cost of replacement, and avoids the outage, the civils and the recommissioning that a new asset would force.

    CAPABILITIES

    Service scope

    • On-site testing & commissioning

Ensuring systems are installed, configured and performing to specification before they are handed over to operations.

    • Factory & site acceptance testing

FAT before shipment and SAT after installation, verifying system integrity at both ends and reducing the risk carried into energization.

    • Preventive maintenance

Scheduled maintenance programs, including the defined quarterly and annual regimes for PureWave systems, to cut downtime and extend equipment life.

    • Troubleshooting & diagnostics

On-site fault finding for behavior that does not match the alarm list, backed by remote diagnostics and factory engineering support.

    • Repairs & refurbishment

Workshop rebuild of power modules, converters and control assemblies, restoring legacy and damaged systems to full performance.

    • System expansions & retrofits

Adding capacity, replacing obsolete assemblies or integrating new components into existing installations with minimal operational disruption.

    • Battery replacement & augmentation

End-of-life battery replacement and capacity augmentation for UPS and storage systems, including chemistry changes where the duty has moved on.

    • Spares & obsolescence management

Held spares and component-level sourcing for discontinued product lines, so an obsolete part is a lead time rather than a replacement project.

    APPLICATIONS

    Where this gets deployed.

    • New system commissioning and energization
    • Annual and quarterly maintenance contracts
    • Emergency response and fault diagnosis
    • DSTATCOM and STATCOM refurbishment
    • Legacy PureWave UPS and SMS support
    • Capacity expansion of existing installations
    • Post-fault damage assessment and rebuild
    COMMON QUESTIONS

    Questions we get asked most.

Do you service equipment you did not supply?
Yes, routinely. A large share of our field work is on third-party and legacy equipment, particularly STATCOM, DSTATCOM and UPS installations whose original supplier has discontinued the line or left the market.
    Is refurbishment actually worth it?
Often, yes. A refurbishment typically costs a fraction of replacement and avoids the outage, civils and recommissioning that a new asset forces. Where it is not worth it we will say so. The assessment comes before the quote.
    Where do you operate?
Our certified field technicians work across North America, Europe and APAC, supported by facilities in New Berlin, Wisconsin and Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicestershire. Coverage is arranged per contract, including response-time commitments where uptime justifies them.
What does a preventive maintenance visit cover?
It depends on the platform, but typically: thermal inspection and connection torque checks, capacitor and fan condition assessment, battery testing, control and protection verification, alarm history review, firmware status, and a written report with any recommended remedial work prioritized.
Can you support us out of hours?
Yes. Emergency response and out-of-hours support are available under maintenance agreements, and our monitoring platform means many issues are diagnosed remotely before an engineer is dispatched.

We would rather look at your actual system than send you a generic proposal. Share the drawing, the constraint you are working against, and the date you need it working by.
