    The commercial case is easy. The connection is the hard part.

    A private wire arrangement is straightforward on paper: a generator sells directly to a nearby consumer at a price above export and below import, and both sides win. What stops it happening is the network. Connecting generation to a private load without compromising protection coordination, power quality or network stability is a real engineering problem, and DNOs are right to be careful about it.

    GridLink solves that problem with a power electronics converter at the point of connection. It regulates voltage, frequency and active power flow, delivers power in one direction only within the defined private network, prevents unintended export beyond the arrangement, and provides reactive power control to compensate for interconnection impedance.

    It runs as an islanded supply, operating independently of the public grid, or as part of a dual connection running in parallel with an existing grid connection while maintaining defined and controlled power flow. The public network then provides load balancing without the private arrangement ever destabilizing it.

      Limited frequency sensitive mode for both over-frequency (LFSM-O) and under-frequency (LFSM-U), alongside reactive power capability across the voltage range.

    • Factory-built skid

      Each skid is factory-assembled and tested as a complete containerized unit before shipping, with outdoor-rated enclosures and solar canopy options for site power at deployment.

    • SCADA across both ends

      Control architecture spans generation site and consumer site via a master controller, RTU and BCU measurement units on each MV skid, with interfaces agreed per project.

    What is G99?
    Engineering Recommendation G99 is the UK grid code governing the connection of generating plant to distribution networks. It sets requirements for fault ride-through, fast fault current injection and frequency response so that embedded generation supports rather than destabilizes the wider network. That applies wherever a GridLink installation runs in parallel with the public grid.
    What changed in the G99 variant?
    The earlier converter iteration was based on modified industrial standard power electronics that could only transfer active power. Under that architecture the generator's own equipment had to satisfy fault ride-through and fast fault current injection, with an interlock preventing the converter from operating while the generator was disconnected from grid. Regulatory interpretation of G99 has since changed: the converter's output stage must now perform FRT and FFCI directly. The current variant does exactly that, at the same footprint and interfaces.
    Does the battery enclosure provide energy storage services?
    No. The DC link batteries provide DC link voltage support only, in the event of external system voltage collapse. They have no capability to provide energy storage services such as Dynamic Containment, Dynamic Moderated or Dynamic Regulation frequency support. If you need those, they are a separate BESS scope.
    Can it run without a grid connection at all?
    Yes. GridLink operates as an islanded supply, independent of the public grid, or as part of a dual connection running in parallel with an existing grid connection while maintaining controlled power flow. Dual connection is the more common arrangement because the public network then handles load balancing.
    What documentation is available for a DNO application?
    Type-test reports, G99 witness-test certificates and TUV Rheinland certification are available to support DNO connection applications and project due diligence. Voltage step, fault level and protection studies are carried out per project to confirm the point-of-connection design meets the local DNO's specific G99 requirements.
