Modular three-level IGBT STATCOM built from ±600 kvar power modules, up to six per system. Response typically 10–40 ms, fault ride-through to 250 ms, optional active filter across the 2nd–51st harmonic, air or liquid cooled.
RE&D STATCOM provides dynamic capacitive and inductive reactive power compensation for voltage stabilisation, power factor correction and load-flow optimisation in public and industrial medium-voltage distribution networks. It is based on a scalable power electronics platform with 3-level IGBT inverters.
The platform is built from IGBT power units (125 A, up to 690 V) combined in cabinets to form ±600 kvar power modules. Up to six modules make a complete system of ±3600 kvar, with an integrated control cabinet and circuit breaker, connected to the network through a matching transformer.
A voltage source converter sources or sinks reactive current continuously and within milliseconds, with no switching steps, no resonance risk with the network, and full rated output retained at reduced network voltage.
